Prestige or pernury? How belief in just world influence attitude towards the out-group

The social identity introduces the dynamics between in-group and out-group. In-group status is important in identifying one satisfaction with their in-group as well as identifying an appropriate out-group. Once an out-group is identified, competition can arise, prompting an individual to side with the in-group and discriminate against the out- group. The study looks to see how beliefs in a just world have an affect on the attitudes towards the out- group while being moderated by their in- group status. A group socio-economic status (SES) is used to represent the in- group and the out- group. A survey was given to 126 students from a private university and 101 students for a local public university. Amongst the students in Manila, the study documented that in- group status moderates the belief in a just world affecting the attitudes towards the out- group with the context of low SES. This was not true however for the high SES.
