A study on the combustion of cleaned and uncleaned Philippine coals using a thermogravimetric analyzer

The study involved the combustion of cleaned and uncleaned Philippine coals as well as imported coals (China and Russia) using a thermogravimetric analyzer. The combustion experiments were conducted in order to determine which type of coal is in parallel with imported coals. The experimental test inc...

Castro, Josephine C. Florida, Elinor U. The study involved the combustion of cleaned and uncleaned Philippine coals as well as imported coals (China and Russia) using a thermogravimetric analyzer. The combustion experiments were conducted in order to determine which type of coal is in parallel with imported coals. The experimental test included the cleaning of coal by oil agglomeration technique before combustion. The combustion tests using Badeco, Bislig, Cebu, Mcc-iligan and Mindoro coals were conducted in order to investigate the thermogravimetric analysis and behavior of cleaned and uncleaned coals. Comparison with imported coals such as Russian and China were also conducted. Tests were made at different heating rates (20, 50, and 99.9 C/min) up to a temperature of 800 centigrade. Kinetics of each coal samples were deduced from the data obtained on TG curves.Resulting thermogravimetric analysis shows that cleaned Badeco coal has a lesser residue compared with China and Russian coal. In addition, complete combustion reaction of the latter is attained at a lower temperature range making it more economical to utilize. 1996-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7912 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Heat of combustion Coal Thermogravimetry Gravimetric analysis Chemical Engineering
