Mobility of chloroacetanilide herbicide in lowland soils as affected by length of herbicide usage

The study aimed to identify the mobility of chloroacetanilide on six different types of soil, which were classified according to length of herbicide usage. Herbicide usage on these soils ranged from 1-20 years. In addition, the effect of length of usage of herbicide on its mobility in lowland soils...

Herbicide usage on these soils ranged from 1-20 years. In addition, the effect of length of usage of herbicide on its mobility in lowland soils was also determined. Herbicide mobility was tested using a mini lysimeter. One-centimeter layer sections from the lysimeter were used for chemical analysis and plant bioassay tests. Results indicated that most of the herbicide residues remained in the topmost layer. Soil moisture was calculated and showed that a high level of soil moisture promoted increase in herbicide degradation. Results were also indicated that this herbicide is of little concern as regards water table or aquifer contamination because of its very low leaching ability. Soil treated with the herbicide for a longer period of time contained lesser amount of butachlor probably because the microorganisms may have used it as a substrate. 2004-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7925 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Herbicides Chemistry
