Na, Yoojin Reyes, Maria Karina Rafaella S. Ruiz, Michelllyn Rica E. The study examines the specific stressors and identifies coping strategies of Korean students as they study and live in the Philippines. This study aims to address adjustment difficulties international students studying and living in a foreign country experience, such as an existing language barrier, exposure to a new culture, feelings of homesickness, and cultural discrimination. Previous studies emphasized the role of coping among individuals who live in a foreign country, especially international students. However, specific coping strategies were not indicated. A qualitative and quantitative design or mixed method research design was utilized in the study. Korean and Filipino students from De La Salle University-Manila and De La Salle College of Saint Benilde (n=200) answered the standard questionnaires. Moreover, focus group discussions were conducted and analyzed through a thematic analysis. With the analysis, the acculturative stress framework of one's way of coping with stress is different when it is avoided from being actively acknowledged. Implications and recommendations for future studies are indicated. 2017-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/8109 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Korean students--Psychology--Philippines Stress in youth Adjustment (Psychology) Culture shock--Philippines De La Salle University (Manila)--Foreign students |
