Description
Summary:An integral part of a child's development is in the speech and language aspects. Therefore, it is important for him to develop competent literacy skills to be able to cope up with the requirements of the big schools. For a child whose skills are adept in language and communication, transition into formal academic studies will be effortless. For preschoolers struggling to keep up with his lessons, extra effort is needed for the part of the teachers. A proposed program is offered for preschool teachers who assist their students in preparation for entrance to the big schools. Information was gathered about preschoolers in selected preschools in Metro Manila. It is essential that the respondents themselves were the teachers who handled students set to move to big schools and/or first grade. The questionnaire specifically asked about the speech and language profiles of the mentioned preschoolers. The questions were comprised of the specific and well researched developmental milestones of children in their primary years. Gathered data were then carefully analyzed and interpreted. Results that indicated a need for speech and language program were focused on. A thirty page comprehensive program tailored especially for preschoolers was then created.
