Description
Summary:Library Automation started early in the 1960s with primitive local systems. At present, the technology has already moved beyond online catalogues, integrated systems and restrospective conversions. Here in the Philippines, the De La Salle University Library is one of the most sophisticated libraries. Due to its quest for development, library automation is now the center of its concentration. Studies have been conducted in the past. The next step then is to conduct a deeper study and to design and construct a system that would be the step towards library automation.Three groups were assigned these tasks for the three sections of the library. These three sections include the Acquisitions Section, Cataloging Section and Circulation Section. The focus of this study is the Acquisitions Section. The present system had been investigated and analyzed. The design has been made and an automated system has been constructed.
