Description
Summary:The Ethernet Simulator (EtherSim) for Local Area Networks (LANs) ver. 1.0 is a prototype network simulation tool that graphically represents network snapshots in the Ethernet. The software presents a realistic simulation of the data link layer of the Ethernet and the wires connecting the nodes. It will also provide statistical information in the form of graphs of metrics and statistical reports about the network system as the simulation progresses. EtherSim ver. 1.0 will be able to represent a whole LAN with the use of a single personal computer. The LAN will be displayed graphically depicting network snapshots that occur in an Ethernet-based network. Bus traffic for the simulation can be regulated by the user of the system by means of controlling the probability of transferring data. The kind of wiring is of generic type with its line capacity or bandwidth and propagation delay user-alterable. All computations regarding the network system's performance and efficiency will be based upon the configuration of the system and the behavior of its components within the simulation. Outside forces such as disconnection of physical wires will not be part of the computations and will not be simulated.
