Density and relative abundance of macrobenthic invertebrates in Talisid River, Tanay, Rizal

The study assessed the present condition of Talisid River using macrobenthic invertebrates as indicators of water quality. Four stations were sampled in February, March, and June of 1993, using a one square foot Surber Sampler. Physico-chemical factors of the river like width, depth, velocity of flo...

The study assessed the present condition of Talisid River using macrobenthic invertebrates as indicators of water quality. Four stations were sampled in February, March, and June of 1993, using a one square foot Surber Sampler. Physico-chemical factors of the river like width, depth, velocity of flow, temperature, substrate composition, water hardness, pH, and amount of dissolved oxygen were obtained as well as density and relative abundance of macrobenthic invertebrates were obtained. The mean width of the river ranged from 6.41 to 7.71 meters, mean depth from 31.13 to 31.42 cm., mean velocity from 0.78 m/sec to 3.79 m/sec, mean temperature from 26.6 to 29 centigrade, mean dissolved oxygen ranged from 8.68 mg/1 to 9.26 mg/1, mean pH from 7.17 to 8.48, and mean water hardness from 279.49 mg/1 to 308.64 mg/1. Findings showed that density of macrobenthic invertebrates decreased from February to June. Insect nymphs of the Genus Isoperla were found to be the most abundant organism. Substrate composition of the four sampling stations were mostly made up of gravel and coarse sand. 1993-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/8272 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Marine invertebrates Water--Analysis Rivers--Philippines--Rizal
