Description
Summary:This study aims to develop a mathematical model using mass transfer coefficients of alternative packing materials obtained from a designed and fabricated cooling tower using multiple regression. The variable parameters are air and water flowrates and the fixed parameters are tower height, diameter, atmospheric inlet condition of air and system of air and water. Mathematical models were developed for every packing material which were chosen using packing characteristics of industrially used materials for the same system. For the chosen alternative packing materials, the equations developed were for coconut shells,Kya = e (0.2117538L 0.0305768V 0.385349) for ceramic plates, Kya = 256.8129L -0.47858 + 0.000493V 1.52245 -9.9346, and for coconut shells, Kya = 414.7156433L -0.47122 + 0.108323971iV 0.74348 -14.9006744 which are all acceptable according to statistical analysis.
