Specifically, it would tackle the mental health concern on social anxiety, and the internal and external factors that affect it. In 2016, an estimated 1.1 billion people all over the world had a mental or substance disorder, with anxiety disorder being the most prevalent at a 4% (275 million) of the affected population (Ritchie & Roser, 1). This statistic alone is alarming, and shows how the concern on mental health has rapidly grown in recent years. However, despite this, there is still a generational stigma that has still stood regarding mental health. The much older part of society still has the idea that mental health is all in the head, or it is due to the weak character, and so on and so forth. Being so, this negatively affects how the youth today perceives mental illness. Symptoms go unnoticed for months and years until it has grown into a full-blown disorder that dramatically affects the individual. Being so, the purpose of this paper is to create film that would expose and highlight the true experiences and feelings of an individual with a mental illness, specifically social anxiety. The researchers would like to create contrast between the stigmatized perspective, and the beholders perspective, in order to allow the audience to feel empathy, and hopefully create a deeper understanding regarding mental health. In addition, there would be a focus on internal and external factors that also contribute to the characters story. 2019-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/8333 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Mental health
