Description
Summary:The effects of different concentrations of vaginal lubricants on the growth of four isolates of Neisseria gonorrhoeae were studied. The concentrations tested were 5 percent, 10 percent, 20 percent and 50 percent. Lubricants which inhibited the growth of the microorganisms were further tested for their bactericidal activities at different times of exposure. KY Jelly and Aquagel with 50 percent concentrations were found to be inhibitory to the growth of Isolate 1. However, no bactericidal effect was evident even after 15 minutes of exposure. The growth of Isolates 2, 3 and 4 were not inhibited by any of the vaginal lubricants tested.
