The researchers would like to find out the changes occurring in one's life during middle age and how this affects their relationship with their family and their work. With these, the researchers would also like to find out if they are experiencing midlife crisis as the western middle aged are experiencing. The participants used were married men in their middle ages ranging from 40 to 60 years old. The participants came from San Isidro, Nueva Ecija and were all farmers from that town. The design of the study is exploratory. The method used is an indigenous method which is pagtatanong-tanong with pakikipagkuwentuhan . Content analysis was used to analyze the data gathered. The results of the study showed that middle aged men in the rural setting experience change during midlife. But these changes are only limited to their physical aspects. Their emotional and spiritual aspects of life are not greatly affected during midlife. The minimal change in these two aspects did not substantially affect their family relationships and their work. The participants have adaptive ways of coping with the changes that are taking place during midlife. They were able to anticipate these changes, see the humor in the situation and find a compromise and made themselves feel good by being altruistic. And lastly, the experiences of the rural middle aged men could not be considered as midlife crisis as they were only experiencing minimal changes during midlife. And they were not greatly affected by these changes for they have developed adaptive ways of coping. 1996-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/8389 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Middle age--Psychological aspects Coping behavior Husbands Married men |
