Po, Monique Venice C. Samedra, Eila Louise Q. Tomas, Katrina Anne S. Most developing countries have been exporting human capital abroad. In return, these countries receive remittance payments from migrant workers abroad. Many studies have been conducted in an attempt to investigate on the impact of remittances on economic growth. However, little study has been conducted to show the significance of economic determinants to remittances. To provide a more thorough study on remittances, this paper investigates on the impact of four economic variables on overseas Filipino workers' (OFWs) remittances pertaining to economic progression of the Philippines. The four economic variables are: (1) poverty incidence, (2) employment rate, (3) family income, and (4) urbanization rate. The researchers used the years 2000-2012 and tackled the study on a national level and a by area level (Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao). Likewise, this study aims to examine the significance of remittances to the economic growth through the Pearson product moment correlation using the data of GDP and remittances form 2000-2012 on an annual basis. The study is expected to provide recommendations for the proper utilization of remittances which in return may lead to economic progression of the Philippines. 2014-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/8397 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Migrant remittances--Philippines Poverty--Philippines Migrant labor--Philippines
