Catindig, Diego Miguel M. Talledo, Euler Christian M. The growing number of motorcycle riders and motorcycle related incidents in Metro Manila is continually growing each day. A rise in operational cost of owning a private vehicle and the poor public transportation options in the country, drive a percentage of the public to turn to motorcycles as an alternative option for daily commute. Unfortunately, the outdated infrastructures and public roadways Philippines have, do not favor the motorcycle riding community. The study is about designing a motorcycle box located at intersections, where motorcycles may gather and move into during the stop phase. The volume of cars and motorcycles at an intersection during the stop phase was the determining factor in designing the box or holding area. The road conditions, road size, stop light cycle times were factored and analyzed to determine if the motorcycle box design is feasible and applicable in different intersections. Video footages at select intersections were used in analyzing the different parameters needed. With this study, the researchers aim to develop a systematic advanced stopping areas for motorcycles at signalized intersection, thus, motorcycle promiscuity and disorganization of motorcyclist during stop phase can be addressed. Through the results of the study, the student-researchers found out that designing motorcycle boxes is not applicable for all signalised intersection in Metro Manila. This was mainly due to the C5-Grean Meadows intersection exhibiting intersection characteristics that would not be benefitting from the design due to low motorcycle counts. 2017-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/8458 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Motorcycles--Philippines
