The dichloromethane (DCM) extract of an unidentified mushroom (JD) from Bontoc was subjected to column chromatography using n-hexane, DCM, and Ethyl acetate (EtOAc) or combinations thereof. One fraction (JDD-16) was re-chromatographed and fractions of similar thin layer chromatogram (TLC) profiles were pooled together. The pooled fraction (JDD-116-38) was analyzed using spectroscopic techniques. Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H NMR) and Gas Chromatography-- Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). Fraction JDD-16-38 was identified as triethyl phosphate (TEP) with some unidentified impurities. The mushroom Lentinus sajor-caju was extracted with cold and hot water (LSC and LSH extracts). Precipitation was allowed to take place by addition of ethanol to the cold and hot water extract affording 4 fractions, the ethanol solubles (LSCS and LSHS) and the insolubles (LSCI and LSHI). The four extracts were analyzed by analytical reversed phase High Performance Liquid chromatography (HPLC). The chromatogram of the four extracts appeared to have similar constituents. Further analysis of these components will be done by LC-MS analysis and other chemical tests in a follow up study.
