Description
Summary:This study deals with the experiences of unwed teenage fathers. It does not wish to explain their experiences, but rather aims to describe them. The data needed for this study was obtained through a descriptive research design. Twenty subjects were gathered through non-probability purposive sampling using chain referral. In-depth interviews were conducted to secure data from the subjects. The data obtained were categorized and analyzed using content analysis. Based on the results from this study, it was concluded that: (1) they provide financial support as a form of child-care, (2) they acquire new roles in their new life setting, (3) they become responsible and mature because of fatherhood, (4) they spend less time socializing with their families and peers, (5) the pressure they get from their situation is a major problem they encounter as fathers, and (6) they adjust to their situation by changing their priorities.
