Summary: | Musical scores are essential guides in violin playing. They also provide the needed help to musicians who are not skilled in outdoing. However, these musical compositions are not always available to people. In the paper, a fully automated violin transcription system that allows conversion of violin audio to musical scores is presented. The designed system is comprised of previous pitch estimation and onset detection algorithms implemented and optimized for the target application. In addition to these methods, several music information retrieval tasks on rest detection, beat assignments, and measure and time signature computations were developed. Music information from the transcription is displayed on a virtual score through a graphical user interface. The system was evaluated with music database containing 30 violin excerpts of different styles with 1671 notes and rests in total. Experimental results showed that the system achieved an overall accuracy of 98.05% in terms of pitches, beats, measures, and time signatures correctly estimated for synthesized recordings. |
