Description
Summary:The phenomenon of volunteerism for HIV volunteers from the LGBT community was explained, described, and relived through their meaningful sharing. The purpose of this study was to know how volunteerism is defined and experienced by the HIV volunteers belonging from the LGBT community, and as well as to explore their motivations through the Phenomenology Approach. A total of 15 HIV volunteers were interviewed from one non-government organization in the Philippines. The interviews were then analyzed through the guidance of the Grounded Theory Analysis in order to come up with codes, labels, and then eventually, themes. A total of 8 themes emerged in which Serving Others was evidently seen to be the one theme which cut across all the other themes, alongside a significant theme that was seen to be distinct among the HIV volunteers from the LGBT community which was Belongingness to the LGBT Community, as it acted as the support that helped them in carrying out their volunteer work.
