Anaerobic digestion of market waste

The study aims to evaluate the production of biogas from the anaerobic digestion of vegetable market waste, and to determine the parameters which would lead to the maximum production of biogas in the least amount of time. The following parameters were observed in order to monitor the behavior of the...

The study aims to evaluate the production of biogas from the anaerobic digestion of vegetable market waste, and to determine the parameters which would lead to the maximum production of biogas in the least amount of time. The following parameters were observed in order to monitor the behavior of the system: Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Total Solids (TS), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) Content and hydrogen ion concentration (pH). The BOD and pH fluctuate as result of microbial processes while there is observed decrease in TS, TSS, and TDS content of the substrate waste. An inoculum (septic tank content) with 30 by volume concentration in the substrate produced the greatest amount of gas with a short retention time. The process shows adaptability to large-scale operation where relatively larger amounts of gas are produced per unit substrate. 1996-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/8675 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Waste products as fuel Refuse as fuel Biogas Organic wastes--Recycling
