A preliminary assessment on the toxicity of Thiodan (Endosulfan) to sea cucumbers (Holothuria scabra, Holothuria nobilis and Bohadschia marmorata)

Description
Summary:A study on the effects of varying concentrations of Thiodan on the mortality rate of sea cucumbers (Holothuria scabra, Holothuria nobilis and Bohadschia marmorata) was conducted at the DLSU Biological Station, Matuod, Lian, Batangas from February 17 to October 3, 1992.The different species of sea cucumbers (Holothuria scabra, Holothuria nobilis and Bohadschia marmorata) were subjected to Thiodan concentrations ranging from a low of 0.1 mg/L to a high of 500 mg/L. Five exposure stages led to the nearest amount of Thiodan concentrations that the sea cucumbers could tolerate. A direct relationship was observed between the different Thiodan concentrations and the mortality rate of the sea cucumbers. The higher the Thiodan concentration, the higher was the mortality rate of the the three species.
