| Summary: | This is a descriptive study on the self-concept of child actors. The self-concept was considered with respect to three dimensions-the personal, physical, and the social dimension. To obtain the needed data, the interview method was utilized. Eighteen respondents were studied, wherein nine were males and nine females. Responses obtained from the male and female child actors were compared. Results were discussed using the development of children in the middle childhood stage. Data gathered showed that with regard to the personal self, child actors describe themselves in terms of their personal qualities. The acting work of child actors do not hinder the maintenance of their health in spite of the nature of their work. They also emphasize on their facial features in describing their physical appearance. Children in the showbusiness industry look for real friends and describe their friends according to the personal qualities they possess. The treatment of their parents changed for the better since they became an actor. |
