Description
Summary:The effectiveness of the previously designed fluidized bed (28) in treating wastewater was studied experimentally. Included in the study were the effects of the different parameters such as the volumetric gas flowrates, solid particles sizes and the presence of the draught tube itself.Wastewater-air-activated carbon system was used in the experiment. The measure of the effectiveness laid upon the percent COD and BOD reduction and changes in some properties of the wastewater like color and odor. The percent BOD and COD reduction was shown to increase with increasing volumetric gas flowrate and size of activated carbon while maintaining its concentration. A draught tube was used to enhance fluidization and higher percent reductions were obtained as compared to the reactor without draught tube.
