Description
Summary:Most car owners focus on saving fuel and prolonging the life of their engine. Although these factors may largely depend on the quality of the engine itself, the driver's ability to drive the car in an efficient manner should also be taken into serious consideration as a means to reach this goal. One of the abilities the driver should possess is to be able to make the appropriate gear changes so that the current gear position matches the vehicle's speed. Unfortunately, in reality, not all drivers have this ability. To solve this problem, we came up with a microcontroller based system that will help drivers to accomplish this task with minimum difficulty. This is accomplished by displaying the current gear position as well as the next gear the driver should shift to. Also, the driver has the option between audio-visual (i.e. a ringing sound to inform the driver to shift gears) or visual mode. All these features are accomplished through the use of a microcontroller.
