Sy, Kathrine Y. To ensure more entrepreneurial success in the global market. Manels Group established Leather Asia Inc. in 1994. Strategically, it has its focus of operation at the Clark Special Economic Zone in Pampanga -- one of the centers of export operations in Luzon. It manufactures Manels ladies' shoes and bags at a 40-60 percentage, respectively. The footwear department is the system under study. The company's most prominent problem is the line's incapability to maximize the effective capacity of 115 pairs of shoes per day which incurs an opportunity loss of Php 693,752.77 annually. After the evaluation of the probable causes for the problem, several factors were found to cause the incapability of the system. These factors are the: Variability in Drying Time, Long Waiting Time due to Batching and Improperly Balanced Line. The proposed system was composed of setting the non-critical batched size to 10 and critical batch size to 2, re-layout, reduction of worker, reassignment of jobs, constructing an improvised conveyor fan and installing an exhaust fan. The computed net benefit of the proposed solution is Php 256,336.41. Given these values, it shows that the proposed solutions for the main problem on are feasible to implement. In terms of the implementation period, based on the Gantt chart that was constructed, solutions can be applied within approximately 7 weeks. 2007-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/8845 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Shoe industry Systems engineering Production engineering Assembly-line methods Engineering |
