Summary: | The study aimed to construct a test measuring the stress/anxiety (state) level of Filipino children ages seven to ten which the authors entitled The Stress Pictorial Test. Feranil's inventional stressors and data obtained from pagtatanong-tanong were used as bases for the item pool. Children ages seven to ten served as respondents. The initial pool was reviewed by a developmental psychologist, a pre-school and a psychometrics teacher. The assembled item pool was administered to 65 children for the pre-try out. The items were modified by considering the comments of the respondents and obtaining the comprehensibility index. The main try-out involved 160 children aged seven to ten. Item analysis was performed using the inter-item and item total correlation. Factor analysis and the contrast group method were utilized to determine validity. Factor analysis revealed three factors namely Cognitive Stressors, Environmental Stressors and No Control Stressors. Cronbach's alpha indicated a reliability coefficient of .70754. A norms table for the whole test was constructed using percentile ranks. The final form consists of twenty items. |
