Plastic making, yarn twisting or even knitting machines have specific required speeds. Tachometers are just what is needed for maintenance check-up especially in cases where speed inconsistencies are considered as risk factors. This research would present a modified optical tachometer that would measure the rotational speed of rotating shafts without the actual physical contact between the sample shaft and the tachometer.
