Summary: | Mercury levels in Tilapia mossambica from Putatan, Muntinlupa in Laguna lake were determined by cold vapor technique in the months of September, October, January and February. It was found that the mercury burden of the fish samples were below the permissible level of 500 ppb set by WHO. The values range from 76.75 to 1490.49 ppb, with an average of 345.39 ppb. No direct correlation was observed between mercury levels and weight of fish. Analysis of variance showed that the mean mercury levels in the four sampling months are not significantly different at the 95% level of confidence. |
