Developing proficiency in verb tenses and discourse competence using interactive online language materials

This study on the development and use of interactive online materials in language learning looks into the process of conceptualizing, designing, validating and using the said materials to develop grammatical and discoursal competence. The value of utilizing online materials to achieve desired learning outcomes was emphasized as well as the process of producing and validating said materials. The study finds out the assessment of the two groups of respondents, namely, the teachers and the students, of the finalized online materials as regards the goal to promote high motivation, increased interaction, high cognitive skill, learner autonomy and cooperative learning. It also seeks to determine the curriculum, instructional, cosmetic and program adequacy of the materials produced and finds out the extent to which they would develop the proficiency of students in the correct use of verb tenses and their discourse competence. Results of the study showed that the interactive online language materials provided high motivation and cognitive skill, more interaction, learner autonomy, and cooperative learning. As regards the instructional, curriculum, program and cosmetic adequacy of the materials, the results revealed very high ratings from the subjects. Lastly, the use of online materials showed higher proficiency in the correct use of verb tenses and discourse competence.
