First, the study assessed the following variables: job stressors, stress level, and ways of coping with stress among three groups of Indonesian professionals, namely, accountants, lawyers, and medical doctors. Second, the study sought to find out relationships among these variables. Third, the study sought to find out if job stress and level of stress cause distress in these professionals. Qualitative and quantitative research designs were utilized to answer the research questions. Interviews and survey questionnaires were the methods used in gathering data from 86 respondents. The results revealed that there are specific factors unique to the profession which were found to cause job stress. For all respondents the relationship among stress level and job stressors and coping responses was not strong enough as the coefficient of correlation for all was below 0.5. The highest stress level for work changes and pressures were accountants then followed by lawyers (moderate), and the lowest was among medical doctors. In genera, the coping responses to the stress level for the three professions were moderate, meaning, they are able to cope with it. Stress management programs are recommended for the three professions in order to appraise stressful events and coping responses. 2006-01-01T08:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_doctoral/160 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/context/etd_doctoral/article/1159/viewcontent/CDTG004255_P.pdf Dissertations English Animo Repository Job stress--Indonesia, Job stress Stress management Counseling |
