The participants were 31 supervisor-trainee dyads, supervisors (Female=27, Male=4; age range: 23 to 68, M=46) and trainees (Female=23, Male= 8; age range: 20 to 34, M=24) who were selected utilizing purposeful sampling procedure from 18 practicum/internship settings and four Universities using Supervisee Satisfaction Questionnaire (SSQ), Working Alliance Inventory (WAI-S & WAI-T), and Supervisor Emphasis Rating Form (SERF). Ten trainees were selected for in-depth interview based on the scores of the inventories. Data gathered from the transcripts of the interviews, researcher site observation notes, and memos were analyzed using the constant comparative method and subsequent open, axial, and selective coding. Peer-debriefering, inter-rating, member checking and inquiry auditing were utilized to increase the credibility of the findings of the study. The results of the study explicate the phenomena, the causal and intervening conditions, the core categories, the actions/interactions, and the consequences. The core categories that emerged are: supervision experiences, critical incidents/experiences, and the best practices experienced and the theory titled interpersonal-professional transition. The best practices proposed to build the framework are: on-site supervisor with balanced interpersonal and professional qualities, praxis-context-person oriented supervision, assignment of university-site liaison, provision for supervisor compensation, and ethical awareness. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher proposed implications for theory and practice, and recommendations for future research. 2007-01-01T08:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_doctoral/166 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/context/etd_doctoral/article/1165/viewcontent/CDTG004283_P.pdf Dissertations English Animo Repository Counseling Counseling psychology Counseling--Philippines Counselors—Training of--Philippines Counselor--Supervisor of--Philippines Counseling
