It identified the (1) profile of the external and internal environments, (2) vision of DBTC), and (3) general directions of DBTC in attaining its vision. The developmental design facilitated the use of processes in drawing up some relevant profiles and descriptions. Interviews, documentary analyses, and discussions were the research procedures.Four relevant phases were mapped out. These were:Phase One: Identifying Opportunities for DBTCThe significant government-created opportunities were the (1) promotion of electronic products, metal components, and computer software, as export winners (2) expansion and modernization of telecommunications (3) the need for qualified instructors for technical-vocational institutions (4) creation of the Dual Training System Law (5) call for greater accessibility to technical-vocational training and, (6) the relevance of basic and technical skills training due to industrialization.Phase Two: Detecting Distinctive Competencies and Core Values of DBTC An average rating was given in the evaluation products (students and services), personnel, facilities and equipment, finance and organization, and administration.The following were revealed as core values of DBTC: 1) caring for the young, especially the poor and abandoned 2) total development of the young 3) forming the young into Christian professionals 4) Preventive System as the Salesian style of educating the young 5) educative pastoral community as the locus and structure of the educational efforts and 6) an educative environment as a pre-requisite for an effective Don Bosco School.Phase Three: Developing the Vision of DBTCIn the next five years, it was envisioned that DBTC can strengthen its role as a technological resource center for training world-class manpower for the 21st century.DBTC was committed to: 1) promote technical vocational as an option 2) increase accessibility of its programs to poor and abandoned youth 3) support the country's development goals in the field of electronics, telecommunications, mechanics and computer technology 4) make its programs responsive to current trends and developments 5) strengthen its value formation efforts 6) improve its facilities and equipment and 7) create and sustain extensive and substantial linkages.Phase Four: Generating Strategic DecisionsIn the pursuit of its vision, DBTC took certain strategic decisions as a) developing a professional and competent staff b) enhancing the institutional capability in achieving its vision c) recruiting and retaining students who have potentials in succeeding in its program d) professionalizing the management of DBTC and e) enhancing the school's financial and management capability. 1995-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_doctoral/726 Dissertations English Animo Repository Technical education--Planning Educational planning Don Bosco Technical College, Mandaluyong (Philippines) Educational Leadership Vocational Education |
