The treatment also attempts to reduce their chemical dependency. The Solomon Four-Group Design was employed. Forty-five chemical dependents from the National Bureau of Investigation's Drug Rehabilitation Center at Tagaytay City participated in the study. The Personal Orientation Inventory (POI), Fundamental Interpersonal Relationship Orientation Behavior Scale (FIRO-B), and Draw a Person Test (DAP) were used to measure selected factors of well-being. An eclectic evaluation system used in the center, based on physical, psychological and behavioral determinants, were employed to determine the level of drug dependence. Two-way (ANOVA) and the t-test were used for data analysis. The findings revealed significant difference in certain areas of psycho-social well-being before and after the treatment. The results showed that the treatment group and non-treatment group provided a significant difference in the Ss' mean scores on self-acceptance, inclusion and affection. However, self-regard, the fourth variable of psychological well-being, did not indicate any significant difference. Measures related to physical well-being variables like blood pressure, pulse rate and respiration rate did not show any significant difference in physical well-being between those who were treated and those who were not treated. Results further showed that drug dependence decreased among those in the experimental group. The results of the delayed posttest revealed that the treatment effects were stable after one month. It could be concluded from the results that psycho-social well-being was enhanced as a result of treatment. However, it could be established conclusively that the treatment enhanced physical well-being. Chemical dependence showed some difference after the treatment. It is suggested that the combination of progressive relaxation and creative visualization be employed in enhancing psycho-social well-being. The study can be replicated in terms of ascertaining the treatment's effectiveness in reducing chemical dependence. 1996-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_doctoral/744 Dissertations English Animo Repository Drug abuse--Treatment Drug addicts--Rehabilitation Rehabilitation counseling Group psychotherapy Social Psychology
