The factors that affect the motivation of DLSU-CBE faculty members in their teaching performance taking into consideration their individual characteristics, job characteristics, work situation characteristics, intrinsic and extrinsic rewards are identified in this study. Both faculty members' and management's perceptions on faculty members' motivation are obtained and taken into account. With this, the research study identifies if there is a significant difference on the factors influencing work motivation based on the faculty members' perceptions and management's perceptions. The extent to which faculty members' and management's motivation variables affect work motivation is also measured. The study included identifying if there is a significant difference on the faculty members' work motivation when classified according to the different demographic variables or individual characteristics. Finally, an empirical model was developed to reflect the motivational dimensions among the faculty of business at DLSU-CBE. Results show that there are significant differences on the faculty members' work motivation when classified according to the different individual characteristics or demographic variables which include age, sex, civil status, highest educational attainment, professional rank, awards and recognition for outstanding teaching performance and number of years of service. No significant difference was observed on the faculty members' work motivation when classified according to employment status and for those enjoying scholarship grants. Good salary and benefits package, security of tenure, top management's concern and career advancement are factors that significantly influence the CBE-DLSU faculty members' work motivation based on their self-assessment.Challenge, recognition and security of tenure are factors that significantly influence the work motivation of faculty members as evaluated by management. Based on the factor analysis done on the faculty members' motivation, about 65 percent of total variance in their motivation is attributed to autonomy, feedback, challenge and conducive working conditions. On the part of management, as based on the factor analysis, 95.46 percent of total variance in motivation of the faculty is attributed to autonomy, feedback, challenge, conducive working conditions and good relationships with their boss. Results of the Wilcox rank-sum test showed that there was no significant difference between the factors influencing work motivation based on the faculty members' self-assessment and management's evaluation. The test yielded no statistical evidence that the perceptions of faculty members are significantly different from the perceptions of management. 2002-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_doctoral/861 Dissertations English Animo Repository Employee motivation De La Salle University--Faculty College teachers Higher Education and Teaching |
