Description
Summary:This study is a compilation of Alfredo Elfren Litiatico's published and unpublished stories, plays, essays, articles, and opinion columns. It is an attempt to throw light on Litiatco's contribution to Philippine literature. The preparation of the study involved unearthing the extant literary pieces and other writings of Alfredo Elfren Litiatco. It included works which are typescripts and copy texts. All the available sources of information for Litiatco's literary works were listed. The literary productions were classified according to literary genres and journalistic writings, then read extensively and intensively. The inclusion of manuscripts to be included in the study were limited to those with only one printed version and those that were published during his time. An introduction for each list of categorized literary pieces and other writings were written. The analysis is limited to textual criticism. Alfredo E. Litiatco's work spanned 18 years, from 1925 to 1943, which saw three eras: the late American period, the Commonwealth era, and the Japanese occupation. Litiatco's voluminous literary works, and the many influences Litiatco had on other writers give deep insights into his legacy as a master craftsman in the English language, to the growth and progress of Philippine literature and to the development of those who would follow the literary and journalistic profession.
