Fornillos, John Mary P. A monthly limnological survey of Northern Laguna de Bay, in Putatan, Muntinlupa, and Cardona, Rizal with emphasis on phytoplankton community structure was conducted from February 1995 to January 1996. All in all, 97 species of phytoplankton were identified belonging to 5 divisions, 5 classes, 12 orders, 25 families and 49 genera. Blue-green algae had the largest number of representative species with Oscillatoria, Anabaena and Microcystis as the most common. However, the green algae Pediastrum and Scenedesmus were the most abundant in terms of cell count. The correlation and stepwise regression show a strong relation (at 0.01 level of significance) between cell count and parameters such as: temperature (0.672) transparency (0.527) salinity (0.483) alkalinity (0.413) nitrate content (0.315) and silicate content (0.330). Gross primary productivity was likewise correlated (at 0.05 level of significance) with dissolved oxygen (0.285). 1996-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_doctoral/1337 Dissertations Animo Repository Lake ecology.
