Smart farming or precision agriculture is considered to be the future of the agricultural industry. This technology has a real potential to deliver a more productive and sustainable agricultural production using a more precise and resource-efficient approach as compared to traditional farming. The incorporation of smart farming technologies, like continuous plant growth monitoring and optimized water and energy resource management, is suitable for efficient crops production. This can only be achieved by employing the concept of Internet-of-Things (IoT) or wireless sensor networks (WSN) in the farm. WSN plays an important key factor in the real-time monitoring of critical growth parameters of any given crops. This paper provided different technologies pertaining to the application of WSN in various smart farm technological components such as the irrigation or water, power, lighting and controlled chamber. Starting from the physical and network setup up to the application platform, the study provided all the necessary detailed information to develop a smart system – a system that is adaptive and flexible that can be used both for real-time monitoring and controls. 2019-01-23T08:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_doctoral/1447 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/context/etd_doctoral/article/2496/viewcontent/Baldovino__Renann_G._Intelligent_Monitoring2_and_Controls_for_Remote_Smart_Farm_with_Low_power_Wide_Area_Network.pdf Dissertations English Animo Repository Agricultural innovations Wireless sensor networks Internet of things Electrical and Computer Engineering
