It is quite simple in its scope and functionality, but there is no doubt to the potentials which it is capable of achieving when further improved upon both in terms of objective or goals and technological innovations which are beyond the scope of this thesis. The simple image detect and acquire system is primarily of two parts - the actual shape recognition program and the hardware which serves as a pick-and-place type of device that would enable this recognition ability to interact with the objects in question. The object is placed within a capture or work area after which an image would be taken of it (by a video camera) and this image digitized (via Video Blaster) to be used by the computer software developed. This assumes that the recognition part is for two dimensions only since only the top view is being emphasized. Using this image, the software then tries to identify it after filtering or cleaning the image through different comparison techniques utilizing area differences, moments comparisons, etc. The software must of course be initially trained to recognize such an object. The mechanical device which utilizes stepper motors for movement is also software-controlled by the same computer. 1993-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_honors/54 Honors Theses English Animo Repository Imaging systems Detectors Digital electronics Interface circuits Engineering |
