Summary: | A Spex 1680 Double Spectrometer and a Hewlett-Packard 5460 1B Digital Storage Oscilloscope were interfaced with an 80586-based IBM PC to form an Optical Signal Analysis (OSA) System. Initialization, control, data collection and analysis were accomplished under Microsoft's Windows 95 environment using many of the Windows 95 Application Programming Interfaces (WIN32 APIs). The system was written in a combination of Borland C++ Version 5.02 and Borland C++ Builder, and implemented Object Oriented Programming (OOP) using Borland's Visual Components Library (VCL). Communication conventions ranged from Synchronous I/O and Event-Driven I/O and were implemented using Windows 95 Communications (WIN32C) API. At the end of the study, software (in the form of four modules) was developed, along with a simple detection circuitry. Also, the system was evaluated using a Helium-Neon laser with outstanding results on the OSA System's effectiveness. |
