Do I worry to get the right solution?
The present study tested the original Tri-Belief Cognitive Model by Kelly and Miller (1999) by mediating worry as perfectionism explains the variation in right solution. It was hypothesized in the study that worry serves as link in the effect of perfectionism to right solution. The effect of worry t...

Diu, Sherwin Chuacokiong Dy, Stephanie Koshing Siasoyco, Kriszel Marciano The present study tested the original Tri-Belief Cognitive Model by Kelly and Miller (1999) by mediating worry as perfectionism explains the variation in right solution. It was hypothesized in the study that worry serves as link in the effect of perfectionism to right solution. The effect of worry to right solution is explained by the tri-belief cognitive model. Perfectionism was included in the model because worriers experience it and some studies support its effect on right solution. In order to verify the hypothesis, the Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, Penn State Worry Questionnaire, and Right Solution Scale were administered to 391 undergraduate students from a private university. The Pearson r correlation was done to establish first the relationships of perfectionism factors, worry, and right solution. Worry was tested as a mediator between the relationship of each perfectionism factor on right solution by following the four-steps devised by Baron and Kenny (1986). Results showed that worry is a partial mediator of concern over mistakes to right solution, and a full mediator of personal standards to right solution. Based on the findings, four new premises were derived for the tri-belief cognitive model of worry. 2009-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_honors/297 Honors Theses English Animo Repository Perfectionism (Personality trait) Worry Anxiety Problem solving |
