Currently, there are manufacturing companies employing a manual process in labeling bottles, and this type of work is repetitive and time consuming. Workers can only label a limited number of bottles in a given time before they feel fatigued, which decreases their efficiency and output. With the Opthalmic Bottle Labeling Machine, the bottles can still be labeled at a faster rate, while still providing the same consistency and quality as that of the manual process. With this in mind, the authors of this paper set out to design, develop and fabricate an Opthalmic Bottle Labeling Machine of significantly lower cost, while providing increased labeling capability and quality. The group then started to design the machine by first benchmarking with the labeling machines available overseas. Different designs and methods were found to be acceptable, although the simplest of these designs were the ones chosen by the authors to be used for the Opthalmic Bottle Labeling Machine. The feasibility and cost were then studied, in order to arrive at the cheapest possible design to be used for the machine. Once the design and concept were finalized, the authors then proceeded to a third-party contractor to have the design fabricated and built. After fabrication, extensive testing and experimentations were done by the group in order to finalize the machine settings to be used. These settings then provided the machine with a minimum labeling rate of 40 bottles per minute, with a yield of 90% for both 10ml bottle sizes. With these specifications, the group was able to address the need of the industry to automate the process of labeling opthalmic bottles, while providing the cost savings and increased rate. 2009-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_honors/310 Honors Theses English Animo Repository Labeling-machines--Automation Bottles--Labeling--Automation
