Description
Summary:Quality control inspection in the consumer products industry is a highly critical part in the manufacturing process. Aesthetics plays a big part in enticing customers to purchase products. Plastimer Corporation and Plastic Container Packaging Corporation are just two of the companies tasked by multinational manufacturing corporations to produce bottles for their products. Production includes printing the labels on the bottles. Manual inspection of these printed labels is a tedious, subjective, expensive process that is flawed by human limitations. This thesis deals with the design and fabrication of a mechatronic device that will take the place of manual inspectors. Using a Template Matching process, this inspection machine will prove to be faster, more reliable, objective and more accurate than its human counterpart.
