Description
Summary:Alzheimer’s disease, a dementia common to the elderly is considered by Dr. Resureccion of the DLSU Psychology Department to be a 2family’s disease3 as it puts a financial, physical and emotional strain on the patient’s family, who act as caregivers (Werner et AI 633, Shankle and Amen, 226) This qualitative research aims to provide basis for short film, Isa Pang Harana, which deals with the implementations of early onset Alzheimer’s disease patients on their spousal caregivers. In order to create a realistic story, various peer-reviewed journals on the overview of Alzheimer’s disease, symptoms, stages, and coping strategies of family caregivers are used in the research. Also included are storytelling methods from related films to bring depth to the screenplay. The group thinks that there is no absolute way of giving spousal care to Alzheimer’s disease patients as there are different factors to consider, such as the nature of the caregiver and severity of the disease.
