Summary:Jobstreet.com Philippines a subsidiary of Jobstreet.com Malaysia is an online company established in 2000 to provide manpower services. Or more specifically, the firm provides an online service through the internet matching jobseekers to employers. It is number one in its strategic group in every sense of the word: in terms of revenue, net profit, brand recall, number of customers. As shown in the five forces summary table below, the manpower services industry is not an attractive business to be in. With low exit and entry barriers, most firms in this industry will probably earn low returns. In Jobstreets strategic group of 20 firms, only two are profitable. The opportunities and threats to the industry, the strengths and weaknesses of the company, the personal values of the key implementers and the broader societal expectations were used as the basis for recommending a strategy. In summary, this paper recommends Jobstreet to expand its geographical scope. Being a new company operating in an emergent group, the firm has spent its start-up years educating the market, focusing its efforts on the National Capital Region (NCR) where most of the large businesses and internet users are located. However, new research has shown that internet users have increase from two million in 2001 to a projected 41 million by 2014. This means that internet adoption is fast expanding into the other regions and provinces. Five regions in the Philippines accounted for 76% of total employees and 65% of Small Medium Enterprises. These are NCR, Region 3, Region 4, Region 7 and Region 11. Jobstreet with its present operations in NCR will expand its geographical scope by establishing sales offices in the metro urban areas of the four other regions. Following this strategy, Jobstreet.com Philippines is projected to grow its revenue of P43 million in 2004 to P155 million by 2008, maintain its annual net operating margin of 50%, and be the market leader in job positions posted from a current 35% to a 50% market share by 2008.
