Super’s (1970) Work Values Inventory (WVI), the researcher-modified Work Values for Sale (WVS) and Work Values Experience (WVE) were administered to 130 (N=130) counselors from school, community and industrial/organizational settings. Descriptive statistics was used to describe the work value profiles of the practicing counselor as a group and as demographic groups. The Mann-Whitney test was employed to detect significant difference in the work values of counselors according to their age, gender, training level and work setting. The results showed that there was a high agreement on the work values endorsed by Filipino counselors. The general work value profile implied a shared professional culture with a strong altruistic, self-expressing, and interpersonal orientation. The results also indicated that generally the work value profiles of the practicing counselors from different demographic groups were similar to that of the general sample. The results further showed that the counselors of different age, gender, training level and work setting differed significantly in the work values they endorsed. In conclusion the results indicated that the core values endorsed by the Filipino counselors are reflective of the local culture and the nature of the counseling profession. The work value patterns of counselors from various demographic groups were influenced by the counselors’ distinctive developmental characteristics, socialization experience in society and in the work environment. Recommendations for further research on counselor values and more emphasis on value education in the counselor training programs were made for the benefit of an effective counseling practice and counselor education and supervision. 2008-01-01T08:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/3879 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/context/etd_masteral/article/10717/viewcontent/CDTG004776_P.pdf Master's Theses English Animo Repository Counselors--Philippines Counselors -- Training of.
