Summary: | Gait analysis is an important tool in helping identify the problems and abnormalities in human locomotion, and help provide clinical intervention to aide rehabilitation. Currently, the available systems in analysing patients gait patterns are expensive. Thus, in the Philippines, doctors and physicians rely on skills and experience rather than concrete data. In the past years, several ways of acquiring and providing data have been developed. The proponent created a low cost system that integrated a pedobarograph and gait-imaging system which can be locally available. The gait-imaging system is composed of a Kinect console connected to a computer. Joint angles are acquired through the use of accompanying SDK of the Kinect. After comparing the 68 angles generated by the Kinect with AutoCAD measurements, the computed average difference is 0.60%, making CGDAS measurements 99.60% reliable in having an error of 5%. The pedobarograph part is composed of a lit see-through plate and a camera. The pressure difference can be seen through the different light intensities in the image of the foot. The system was able to capture snapshots and record the changes in locomotion for the whole time of the trial. Overall, the system prototype proved to be able to provide real-time reliable joint measurements and display relative foot pressure distribution simultaneously. All of these data are recorded and can be accessed for future analysis. |
