Summary: | This strategic management paper is written for the purpose of formulating strategies for St. Martin of Tours Credit and Development Cooperative (SMTCDC) that would aid in the attainment of its corporate objective.
SMTCDC was found by the Knights of Columbus of the St. Martin of Tours parish in 1969. It is one of the cooperative millionaires in Central Luzon and one of the leading cooperatives in the Philippines today.
SMTCDCs members include farmers, fishers folks, women, youth, market vendors, small business and skilled professionals, it offers a gamut of financial and social services tailored specifically to its members.
SMTCDC has been in existence for the past three decades and has proven itself as an institution which can sustain its operations. The cooperative is perceived to be stable with a strong leadership headed by Mr. Rustico U. Galang, Jr. SMTCDC management prides itself with its corporate values based on excellence, teamwork, integrity, fairness, social responsibility and trust.
SMTCDs personnel are made up of dynamic and capable individuals that are team players. The cooperative was able to capitalize on its fund management abilities as it invested its money in financial institutions that provide high-yield interest rates, gains of which resulted profitably for the cooperative. Only recently, SMTCDC has considered entering into new business venture (franchise investment) that will provide more earnings to its members.
SMTCDCs competitive advantage is that it is able to provide high returns on member deposits/savings, longer and flexible payment and social service exclusive to members and their families. Simpler documentation processes like filling out of forms, signing of documents, and more flexibility in dealing with customers contributed to these competitive advantages aside from the fact that SMTCDC is tax exempted.
To address changes in the macroenvironment, specifically in terms of technology and lifestyle, the cooperative is continually upgrading its system and coming up with new products and services to anticipate and serve the changes in the members needs. |
