Description
Summary:As the telecommunications market becomes more competitive, companies are forced to constantly introduce new offers or products/services to the market at a fast pace not just for business growth but also to comply with market demands and customer requirements. Prioritization and selection of right sets of projects in launching new services is significantly critical for organizations to successfully achieve their competitive advantages and corporate strategies. This action research aimed to address the recurring issue of Sun Prepaid regarding the increasing utilization of their resources through the design and adoption of a prioritization tool. The need for project selection and prioritization process stems from the fact wherein the Project Proponents of the group frequently pursue projects simultaneously in favor of the demands of powerful persons within the organization and/or the premises of competition without considering the available resources. Without an effective project selection and prioritization process, resource capacity overloads and the increasing number of new services released in the market coupled with project politics will lead to frustration, customer's confusion, and inefficient use of resources. Collaboration with proponents, stakeholders and other members of the project team through formal meetings, casual interviews, email correspondences, brainstorming sessions and alignments were done in all four steps of action research cycle. Furthermore, the intervention of designing and adopting a prioritization tool would further improve the current project selection process of Sun Prepaid to have a leaner and more streamlined product portfolio and effective and efficient resource utilization.
