Description
Summary:I believe that people development is such an integral component of organizational success. It is a great source of competitive advantage for many highly successful companies. Through this integrated action research, the issue that I addressed was the enhancement of the people development efforts of the Navitaire Manila office. I explored different forms of people development such as technical training, behavioral training, on the job learning, employee assessment, job rotation, coaching, and mentoring, to aid issue resolution. To help Navitaire Manila's workforce transition to the desired state, I applied Kotter's 8-step change model. I used the concept of triangulation to collect and validate data, and frameworks such as Schein's ORJI model, Lewin's force field analysis, and Ambroses compass for mentoring and coaching, as tools which helped me complete two cycles of action research. In the first cycle, I focused on the construction of the issue and data collection which ultimately led to the confirmation research's feasibility. While on the second cycle, I focused on the utilization of the inputs fed by the first cycle to plan and execute an intervention which was an implementation of a mentoring program for Navitaire Manila's team leads and associate managers. Through this action research, I have improved my collaboration skills, particularly the art of listening, and I have lessened the need to stay within my comfort zone and simply embrace change.
