Description
Summary:This integrated action research paper addressed the issue on developing competencies of the members of JDE accounts payable team to which I am part of. The objective is to conduct trainings that would enhance the competencies and flexibility of the members to be able perform other processes within the team. This study aims to enhance competencies of analysts and promote a sustainable work life balance environment in the organization. I explored some forms of competency development by conducting classroom and on the job trainings to resolve the issue. The change management framework by Kurt Lewin was also applied. I used the concept of triangulation to collect and validate data, and frameworks such as Schein's ORJI model, ladder of inference, Lewin's force field analysis, Competency Development Model by De Vos, De Hauw and Willemse and Boyatzis' Model for Effective Job Performance, as tools which helped me complete two cycles of action research. The outcome of the interventions helped improve the competencies of the team making them more flexible and prepared in the rapid changes in the organization. Most importantly, the participation of collaborators allowed this action research to be successful.
