This is a quantitative descriptive study that examines the influencing factors and consequences of community participation in the Municipality of Pililia, Rizal. It looks into their background characteristics and the reasons for their participation in development projects. It also describes to their level of active citizenship. This study assumes that project participants will have a higher level of active citizenship owing to their participation in a community development project. A total of 120 project participants from selected barangays in Pililia, Rizal were included in the survey. Results revealed that they were generally involved in the implementation stage. However, they were not involved in the planning and implementation stages. Overall, the project participants had a high level of active citizenship not withstanding the fact that that many of them were not involved in all the stages of project management. The results likewise revealed that the significant factors associated with one's participation in community development projects are age, educational attainment, employment status, monthly income, focus, funding source, and reasons for participation. Age has a significant association with one's participation in planning and monitoring. It is more likely that older adults tend to participate more than the younger members of the community. Also, educational attainment, employment status, and monthly income has a significant relation with planning, monitoring, evaluation and role in the project. Individuals with higher educational attainment have the skills and knowledge necessary in the decision-making process of development projects- hence they were more involved. The focus and funding source have a significant association with community participation in the areas of pre-implementation, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and role in the project. The significant factors in relation to the level of active citizenship are planning, evaluation, and role in the project. This results perhaps suggests that measuring the level of active citizenship is best done after the implementation stage of a project. Having a role or position in a community project is a concrete manifestation of a lived active citizenship. 2015-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/5045 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Community development Urban Organization Development
